Land O’ Sky Trout Unlimited’s Mission
To conserve, protect, and restore coldwater fisheries and their watersheds on a local and national level by fostering a passion for fishing, community service, fellowship and education. “There is in the very haunts of the brook trout a suggestion of where it gets its vigor and wariness: the cold, clear streams where the water is pure; brooks that wind in and out over rocky and pebbly beds, here shaded by trees and there dashing through the open–it makes us feel vigorous even to think of such streams.” Handbook of Nature Study by Anna Botsford Comstock, 1911.
Centered in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Asheville, North Carolina, we are an organization of anglers and conservationists dedicated to the protection of trout and their habitat. We are located within an hour’s drive of the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, and surrounded by the Pisgah and Nantahala National Forests. Many of the premiere trout streams of the southeastern United States are within easy driving distance. Our chapter is actively involved with resource agencies, such as the NC Wildlife Resources Commission (NCWRC) and the U.S. Forest Service (USFS) in decisions about best management practices for fisheries and watersheds. We maintain an active, ongoing interest in the education of youth on the importance of trout habitat protection and catch and release angling.
Keeping in contact with our members and vice versa is very important to LOSTU, and we’ve tried to make it easy to contact the chapter officers and BOD. First, the general chapter email address is email@example.com. Emails sent to that address go to the webmaster who will forward them to officers as specified. Second, there is a “Contacts” page on our website accessed via the menu at the top of each page; this page provides the email address for each officer and also a blank contact form where you can enter a message which goes to the webmaster. Each month we send out one or more emails using the LOSTU mailing list. These emails are sent from the TU National server, so if you change email provider and therefore your email address, please keep that info up-to-date with TU National so we won’t lose contact with you. If all else fails, come to a meeting, most of the officers and BOD members are there each month–hope to see you soon
