Fly Tie-Athlon 2025

In 2023, as a chapter, we tied flies for a number of charities near & dear to WNC, including non-profits like Casting Carolinas, Reeling in Recovery, Project Healing Waters, & Casting for Recovery. Based on the amazing turn-out last time, the LOSTU Tie-athlon will be aiming to collect at least 1,200 flies for these amazing groups.

If you have additional non-profits that may benefit from our efforts, please let me know at a meeting or via email (graysenpack@gmail.com). Here are this year’s rules:

  1. We want flies that you’d fish here in WNC waters.
These are flies for beginner anglers that will predominately be for DH waters. Think squirmies, eggs, rubber legs, copper johns, rainbow warriors, wooly buggers, etc.
  2. We will collect flies at the September, October, November, & December meetings.
  3. You’ll be entered into the final drawings once for every dozen (12) flies you donate.
We are more than happy to accept flies you tied or flies you’ve acquired otherwise.
  4. At the December meeting, we will draw winners from everyone who donated at least a dozen flies.
We’ll have multiple prizes, but you’ll only be able to win once.
  5. When you donate flies, please include your name, the fly pattern & size, and the number included.
